Welcome
Click to see BT up closeI have reproduced most of the factual information contained here from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey website on the day of the attack.

The twin towers will live on forever in my heart. A great NYC landmark which I had hastily scuddled in and out of, 3 or more times a day, while working in its shadow at 130 Liberty Street. Back then my building was known simply as 1 Bankers Trust Plaza... and now - dust.

9/11 - THE DOCUMENTARY
If you missed it, hopefully they will run this again. On March 10, CBS broadcast an extraordinary film, telling the story of that day from the perspective of those who survived it.

My Tribute
Down with these buildings came untold lives. Down with these buildings came history. Below is some of my history in the World Trade Center.

As every true NY'awker... I have childhood memories of the observation deck. Standing too close to the glass from 110 stories above lower Manhattan made you feel woozie. What kid didn't ask their parents "what would happen if I threw a penny off of the roof?" How mad was I when they closed the observation deck because it was too windy!

As an adult, I landed a job across the street from the towers at what was then Bankers Trust. Every day I took the E train to World Trade. Every day I walked through the concourse and shopping mall beside thousands and thousands of other people. I had drinks with friends & coworkers at "Windows"...on the World. I now understand why the elevator guard hated briefcases. They'd always try to get me to check my briefcase at the desk and not take it up to the restaurant. I never gave in. As if I were going to leave my briefcase 100 stories below me? I must have looked like a tourist! NOT!

  • I had a very strange man ask me if he could kiss my shoe in the World Trade Center. I declined.
I must admit that I had really nice shoes back then.
  • I spent an untold amount of money at Borders in the World Trade Center.
  • I interviewed for a job with the Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange in the World Trade Center... though I just didn't drink enough of it!
  • I had many laughs with my friends in the World Trade Center while we gawked at the mannequins in Express.
  • I ate an unprecedented number of bagels in the World Trade Center... who had time for lunch nevermind breakfast?
  • My son will never get to see the building where his mommy rubbed elbows with the big boys nor the ever spectacular World Trade. This is sad.

I have great difficulty trying to comprehend that these structures, and some of the buildings around them, are no longer standing. Many lives along with the NYC skyline has changed forever. My memories have now become history.

BACK DOWNTOWN Platform Ticket
On January 11, 2002, I finally took the long overdue trip back home to NYC. I was able to convince an old friend from college to accompany me downtown to ground zero. In the rain, we took the pilgrimage to South Yeah, this is meStreet Seaport to get the golden tickets & read about the new platform proceedure.

Granted, we had two tickets for the viewing platform, but never managed to actually get on it! That would have meant hanging around for 5 hours until our scheduled time! Whatever happened to a NY minute? We were outta there...

Nice job Guiliani on packing tourists into the normally vacant South Street Seaport! Yikes! Also, oh so many thanks for making me walk all the way down Fulton Street in the rain!
Station Eyeball
I loved the mosaic eyeballs that covered the walls of the Chambers Street/WTC subway station - of course I had to take a photo!

I miss seeing the eyeballs at the end of the line on the E train! - djc

Ok, enough - go see some photos.
